Excerpt #4
Prosperity's Music Therapy Session For the Out and Gone
Extreme dustitis is a form of psychosis, a break with reality: hearing voices and in conversation with people who are not there is common behavior pattern. In this stage the person is manic and unable to sleep for days. Here is a case of extreme dustitis observed by Prosperity Carter:
One day while visiting my friend's apartment on the third floor of his complex, I encountered a guy wearing a suit and tie on his way to church. As he passed me to get on the elevator he calmly and very nicely invited me to his church.
The next day when I passed his apartment I clearly saw a side view of him naked in the door. He was deeply engaged in a conversation with an invisible person. He said, "You just don't understand man, please give me another chance.""Fuck you!" He ranted throughout the night walking back and forth on the walkway.
The following day, I observed him again having a deep conversation with an invisible person on the elevator at the opposite end of his apartment. He proceeded to take an empty case of Miller's beer and threw it over the railing. As I reached my friend's door, I turned around to see if he was the same guy that had on a suit and tie a few nights ago and invited me to his church. It was him, with a totally different persona. I looked at him with shock. He said again to the invisible person, "Fuck you, I hate you!""Just leave me the fuck alone!"
"Hmmmm," the inner voice in my head said, "Put on your song, Better Day, and turn the volume up so he can hear."
All I want is a better day
No more negative ways
Just a better day
A better day
Yea
A better day
For so many years
I was surrounded by negativity
In my ears from people who did not care
Didn't know how to escape all of the hate
Passed down from generations
Cycles we create
We got to break this chain
Or continue living in pain
The world you see is all we need
Got to keep it together
So it can last forever
Never say never
Cause never doesn't make life
Any better....
As I was singing my original song, Better Day, I looked toward door to see the gentleman standing there listening calmly to my song, absorbing the message. He soon disappeared and I heard no more ranting from him that night.
