Dear Oakland Creative Neighborhoods Coalition Members,

Monday's Special Budget Meeting at City Hall could not have been more of a success! Big shout out to all who attended - APTP, ReFund Oakland Coalition, ACCE Action, APEN, Causa Justa::Just Cause, Communities for a Better Environment (CBE), CURYJ,  East Bay Housing Organizations, EBASE, SEIU 1021, IFPTE Local 21, Oakland Tenants Union, Oakland Rising, Dellums Institute for Social Change, PUEBLO, Street Level Health Project and others. By joining forces, our voices were so loud and strong that City Council had to end the meeting early.

WE SHUT THE MEETING DOWN!
Councilmembers were not pleased, but they gave us no choice. We were not going to let them vote on a budget that was not reflective of the community’s asks. We need City Council to vote on a 2017-19 City budget that ReFunds & ReInvests in Oakland.
What can YOU do now?

We need your help to pick up the phone & make a call TODAY!

KEEP THE PRESSURE ON! It is time for city leaders to move away from “crumbs off the table” budgeting to a comprehensive approach that ensures we FULLY fund reinvesting in housing for the homeless and unhoused, increasing legal and tenant counseling for renters, increasing resources for affordable housing, protecting our workers and investing in arts & culture.

Here’s what you can do to ReFund & ReInvest in Oakland. We are asking supporters and allies to help with Call in & Social Media Action from 1-3PM:

·         Call Councilmembers Kalb, Gallo & Campbell-Washington using thePHONEBANKING SCRIPT AND TALKING POINTS TODAY from 1-3pm
·         Send a brief message to the Councilmembers on Facebook or twitter using #Refundoakland.  Suggested messaging:  “Support ReFund Community budget by delaying this evening’s vote to allow more input from community & other Councilmembers”—but please message this as you see fit
