"MARVIN X IS A MISOGYNIST FEMINIST!"
--DR. AYODELE NZINGA

"What people don't know is that Marvin X is a liberator of women!"
--Rashid Easley, a childhood friend, after reading his forthcoming magnum opus
The Mythology of Pussy and Dick

His Mythology of Pussy and Dick may reveal Marvin as a misanthrope rather than misogynist, and yet he may ultimately reveal himself as the supreme humanist, womanist and manist, for in truth, Marvin X is a lover of all that exists, plants, animals, humans, et al. For all his anti-Americanism, he is in bed with Emerson, Whitman, and the best transcendentalists. Alas, Dr. Cornel West described him not only as the African Plato teaching in the hood," but West went on to say, "He is a combination of Thelonious Monk and Marianne Williamson."I wish somebody would hep me tonight!  Marvin X says, "It's best, in the manner of Emerson, not to try to figure me out. Although, I transcend the Master Transcendentalist, "I will confound you for the very reason you are trying to deconstruct me. Yes, I will confound you for the pure joy of not allowing you to figure me out!"

DR. NZINGA IS HIS STAR STUDENT. IN 1981 SHE ENROLLED  IN HIS THEATRE CLASS AT LANEY COLLEGE, OAKLAND AND PERFORMED IN HIS PLAY IN THE NAME OF LOVE. SHE NOT ONLY LEARNED HIS DRAMATURGY BUT OBSERVED HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH WOMEN OVER FOUR DECADES. HE HAS AUTHORIZED HER TO WRITE HIS OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY.

THE FOLLOWING IS A PHOTO ESSAY OF MARVIN X AND DR. AYODELE NZINGA

This pic captures the misogynist/feminist at his best, the Laney College panel on Women Poets in the Black Arts Movement that he produced. One cannot deny these are some of the most powerful women in America, and especially in the Bay Area: Elaine Brown, Chairwoman of Black Panther Party, Halifu Osumare, Choreographer, co-founder of the Black Arts Movement and  Malonga Arts Center; Judy Juanita, author, professor, Editor of the Black Panther Party Newspaper; Portia Anderson, Seattle WA activist; Phavia Kuchagulia, poet, musician, dancer, scholar, activist; Aries Jordan, student poet of Marvin X.

Dr. Ayodele Nzinga, Marvin X and Hunia Bradley at the Master Poet's retreat where he lived and wrote in solitude during five years to heal from the death of his partner, Masha Satterfield, and the suicide of his son, Darrel. He wrote five books during his five years of solitude, broken with this visit by Ayo and Hunia. It was also broken when he was visited by Nisa Bey who came to get the poet to write her autobiography entitled Seven Years in the House of Elijah Muhammad.

She made her transition while the poet spoke at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, 2019. During his poetry reading he broke down in tears as he recalled his dear friend.

Dr. Ayodele Nzinga "moved on up" from her mentorship under Marvin X to be in residence
at the Flight Deck Theatre, 1540 Broadway, downtown Oakland, where she became the first
theatre group in the world to complete the August Wilson cycle of plays in chronological order. This accomplishment, says her Master Teacher, qualifies her for the title "Theatre Diva of the Bay!"

The Master Teacher says this about his student: "She asked me very few questions, but she observed every move I made and implemented my dramaturgy into her own and went further as every student should. In truth, most of my students have betrayed me but Ayodele has been a true trooper and this is why I passed the baton of the Black Arts Movement Business District to her. We can see she has taken BAMBD to another level with her productions at the Flight Deck Theatre and last and this year's production of BAMBD FEST, Black Arts Movement Business District Festival that received over $200,000 from the California Arts Council and other foundations. Is she a Diva or what?
